What can FLEB do for you?

What is all this retro-looking hullabaloo, anyway?

Do you remember those old "Community Bulletin Board" cable channels from the 1990s? (If you don't even remember the 1990s, ask your parents if they do).

Everything from community events to classified ads would scroll by, with elevator music or the local radio station in the background...

The one in my hometown used the Texscan MSI, which looked a bit like this, though the typeface was a bit different. The font I'm using here is "Star3000" meant for a Weather Channel simulation, but close enough to the old Texscan to inspire a bit of nostalgia.

But (I hear you asking)...
*** Why? ***

Mostly because I needed to put something here. I've had this set of stylesheets kicking around for quite a while since I first proof-of-concepted it, and until I get a proper flebsite.com page made, this will work to at least serve as a contact point and link location.

. . . What's a FLEBsite? . . . Well, there's this guy who calls himself "FLEB" on the Internet. (Sometimes he calls himself "SuperFLEB" because he's slow to sign up for things and other people take the good name.) He's got some links to share, and needs a place to call homepage, so he needs a website. Well, it only stands to reason that your name is FLEB, and you're on the Web, you should have a "FLEBsite", right? (Yeah, "FLEB.com" would have been great, but some domain squatter's been sitting on that for years, and I'm sure they want more than I'm willing to pay, so "FLEBsite" it is.) Now, when you're a FLEB like this guy is, punching a clock every day doing Web development, in a world where personal Web sites have all but gone the way of the Dodo, maybe you'll just dredge up the old "1990s Cable Community Channel" template you made a few years back and knock out a quick page so there's something to link to. And that . . . is a FLEBSite.
